Fees & Billing
Allison’s Fees
Fees vary based on session length and type. Initial intake appointments are $200 for 90-minute sessions. Ongoing individual, couples, and family counseling services are available in 60 minute sessions for $165. Extended sessions are available upon request. Additionally, I am committed to making counseling affordable to those who seek it, and so I offer a limited number of sliding-scale appointments for those who need them. Sliding-scale fees are determined at my discretion based on availability and on a case-by-case basis. Please let me know if you are interested in discussing this option.
Payment for sessions are due at the time of service. I accept all major credit cards, cash, check, or Health Savings Account (HSA) cards. I can keep your card on file and, with your authorization, process the card after each session, or you can log onto your Patient Portal on Simple Practice to pay your balance.

Insurance plans vary widely in their reimbursement rates, therefore please check your benefits prior to your first appointment so your responsibility is clear. If I am not an in-network provider with your plan, out-of-network benefits will often cover a good portion of my services. The session fee, your co-pay and/or co-insurance is due at the time of service. Please contact me if you have any questions about using your insurance or the cost of coming to counseling.
As of January 1st, 2022, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
While using health insurance benefits allows you to save more in the short term, this benefit should be weighed against the risks and drawbacks. These include:
Diagnosis: Insurance will only pay for mental health services if you meet criteria for a diagnosable mental disorder for which counseling is deemed “medically necessary.” Though more clients fit one or more acceptable diagnosis, please be aware that when a mental health diagnosis is used, it becomes part of your medical records.
Lack of Privacy: Insurance companies will sometimes ask for detailed information, including your diagnosis, symptoms, personal history, or substance use, and occasionally summaries of your actual sessions. These will become part of your permanent medical records and may be shared with third parties such as other insurance companies.
Cancellation Policy
Please be aware that I require a minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation in order to avoid being charged a cancellation fee, with the exception of rare and emergent situations. If you do not provide at least 24 hours notice of cancellation or do not show up for your scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full fee of the session. Insurance companies do not pay for missed sessions, so the cancellation fee would become your responsibility.
